Mi Casa, My Home, Casa Mia

In my series I depict the places I have lived in: Quito, Chicago, Marist College, and Florence, and later adding Orlando when I was accepted in the Disney College Program.
Using digital painting, I rendered each place realistically and contrasted it with a tear in the middle revealing a stylized and cartoon-like representation through thick outlines and vibrant colors. This contrast between realistic and whimsical styles creates a playful and unexpected effect. The different settings share a common theme: the idea of "home." For me home is inspiring, a safe place where I'm free to create my art. This series celebrates the diverse and complex nature of personal identity and belonging. It invites the viewer to reflect on their own sense of home and what it means to them. All the paintings are based on pictures I’ve taken over the years.
